The dog can come to dinner.

Each restaurant below has a dog policy someone read and dated. The note says which part of the place the dog is welcome in.

Back River Brewery

Tybee brewery with a dog-friendly patio, open late. Worth knowing because the beach itself is closed to dogs — this is where you end up instead.

Bodega Mt. Pleasant

Open-air patio on Coleman Boulevard with room to park a dog beside you. Oversized sandwiches, strong drinks, loud in a good way.

Green Truck Neighborhood Pub

Front patio under a tent, and they will bring a bowl of water without being asked. Burgers from cattle they can name, hand-cut fries. Closed Sundays.

Hudson’s Seafood House On The Docks

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables on the Skull Creek deck, where the staff have a habit of turning up with a bowl of water. Sunset is the whole point; go early.

LoLA Mt Pleasant

The concrete patio takes dogs. Gumbo, jambalaya and fish tacos, and nobody minds a retriever under the table.

Old Bull Tavern

Dog-friendly patio at the gastropub on West Street. Evenings only, Tuesday through Sunday, and the menu changes with the market.

Page’s Okra Grill

Covered patio with fans for August and heaters for January, and dogs are welcome on it. Southern plates, and the queue is real at brunch.

Poogan’s Porch

Named after a neighbourhood dog, and it behaves like it. Dogs are welcome on the front porch and the covered patios, fenced off from the Queen Street pavement, year round when the weather allows.

Red’s Ice House

Dogs at the outdoor tables on the covered creek-side patio. Shrimp boats going out in front of you and the Shem Creek boardwalk a minute away.

Saltwater Cowboys

They publish an actual dog menu, which settles the question. Waterfront patio on Shem Creek, and the boardwalk next door is the walk afterwards.

Skull Creek Boathouse

Dogs at the outdoor tables on the big waterside patio, and there is a dog menu. No reservations, so there is usually a wait — two outdoor bars, Adirondack chairs and live music make that the point rather than the problem.

The Crazy Crab Jarvis Creek

Dog-friendly outdoor seating, a big covered deck and an outdoor bar, with a firepit once it cools off. Easy with a dog and a couple of children at the same time.

Every policy here was read off the restaurant’s own page or off third parties that agree, and the entry carries the date it was checked. Policies change and the host on the day has the final say, so call ahead if the trip depends on it.
