The ruins of a 1697 trading village on the Ashley, with its tabby fort and church tower standing.
Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site
A village stood here from 1697 until the Revolution, and what is left is the brick bell tower of St George's and a tabby fort on the bluff above the Ashley. Archaeology is ongoing across the site and the excavated foundations are marked in the grass. It is a short walk and among the quietest historic sites near Charleston.
