Two Ways to Shop the Lowcountry
Shopping
Twelve bow ties in stock at local shops, from Charleston-made feather bow ties at $225 to a $42 black silk tie and a $16 Rainbow Row bow tie for a dog collar, with the shirts and pocket squares that go with them.
Every bow tie here was in stock at a local shop on October 28, 2026, and every price was read from the shop's own product page that day. Seven are Brackish feather bow ties, handcrafted in Charleston from pheasant, guinea, rooster, goose and peacock feathers. The rest are silk and velvet ties from $29.98 to $128, and one is for a dog.
All twelve are in the Lowcountry Magazine store, where a purchase goes through to the shop.
Brackish bow ties come pre-tied, on an adjustable band with a hook closure, and measure 2.5 inches tall by 4.5 inches wide. Because each one is laid by hand from natural feathers, no two are exactly alike. Grady Ervin & Co, at 313 King Street, carries the widest range in the store. M. Dumas & Sons, a Charleston shop since 1917 at 294 King Street, and Rhodes Home & Gift on Folly Road carry others.
Slate-blue pheasant feathers in overlapping scallops, wrapped at the center in black grosgrain. The shop's listing calls it one of the best-selling designs. Fits necks from 11 to 20 inches.
$225 · Dunbar Bow Tie in the store
Slightly iridescent rooster feathers on the outer edge, with black and white pheasant and guinea feathers toward the center. The listing names it a black-tie design.
$225 · St. Pierre Bow Tie in the store
Guinea fowl feathers carry their own white spots, so the Gatsby's polka dots are the bird's own. Black and white throughout, with a black grosgrain center.
$225 · Gatsby Bow Tie in the store
All white goose feathers, laid so the edge stands slightly ruffled. A white bow tie for a white dinner jacket.
$225 · Carew Bow Tie in the store
Blue and emerald peacock feathers laid symmetrically, with a peacock eye on each wing and a black grosgrain center. The brightest tie on this list. Its band adjusts from 13 to 21 inches.
$225 · Piton Bow Tie in the store
Black and white goose feathers set in stripes, tipped with black and white rooster hackle. Rhodes lists it for black tie.
$225 · Soufriere Bowtie in the store
Pink and white goose feathers in an abstract butterfly shape, with thread detailing at the center.
$245 · Jeffersonville Bow Tie in the store
A black bow tie in a silk and cotton blend. Billy Reid based it on the bow tie he wears himself, in a slightly more modern cut.
$128 · Silk Slub Bow Tie in the store
Silk bow ties handmade in Como, Italy, sold untied at J Fredric on King Street. In stock in black at $75 and navy at $125.
From $75 · J Fredric self-tie bow tie in the store
Plain black, 100% woven silk. The lowest-priced silk bow tie on this list.
$42 · Black Silk Bowtie in the store
A velvet bow tie with a matching pocket handkerchief, boxed, from On Time Fashions on Eisenhower Drive in Savannah. It clips on and adjusts up to a 20-inch neck. In stock in black, royal blue and red.
$29.98 · Velvet bow tie in the store
A bow tie printed with the pastel houses of Rainbow Row, made by Covey Collection of Charleston for Hermosa Jewelry. White elastic loops slip over a dog's collar. It measures 4 inches wide by 4.5 inches tall. Hermosa has shops in Mount Pleasant and downtown Charleston.
$16 · Rainbow Row Bow Tie in the store
Semi-spread collar and French cuffs, in a stretch fabric that does not wrinkle. Studs are sold separately.
