Advertising & Editorial Disclosures

lowcountry.one is an independent regional magazine and directory platform for the coastal
corridor from Savannah to Mount Pleasant. Running it costs money. This page explains exactly
how we make that money, so you can weigh what you read here accordingly.
How the site earns
- Paid placement. Businesses can pay to appear at the top of a directory
(golf courses, builders, creators, and others), in a strip on the homepage, or on the sponsor
credit of a weather alert. A paid position is the same real business with the same real
information — payment buys position, not praise. Every paid position is marked “Paid placement”,
by the code that renders it rather than by a setting on the sale, so it cannot be switched off for
a particular buyer. We never describe a paid position as a recommendation. - Sponsored collabs. Through our Creators marketplace, businesses pay local
content creators for disclosed sponsored visits. We keep a platform fee. The resulting articles
on lowcountry.one are labeled “Sponsored,” and the creators’ social posts carry #ad. - Referral links. Every “Buy” button in our store section sends you out to the
boutique’s own website through a link on our domain, so we can count how many people we sent.
Where we have a referral arrangement with that particular boutique — or with a network they
belong to — that link also carries a tracking code, and we may earn a commission when you buy.
Most of the boutiques we index have no such arrangement, and their links carry nothing but the
plain product address. Either way the boutique sets the price and it is the same price you would
pay going there directly. - Subscriptions and tools. Businesses can pay for upgraded tools (for
example, vendor lead access). These are plainly labeled paid products.
What money doesn’t buy here
- Reviews. We do not sell reviews, we do not publish paid content disguised
as organic opinion, and we do not let advertisers dictate editorial conclusions. Ratings on
creator profiles come only from businesses that actually completed a collab. - Directory listings. The businesses in our directories are there because
they exist in the Lowcountry and met our inclusion criteria — not because they paid. Most have
never paid us anything. - Editorial coverage. Magazine stories are chosen by us. When a piece is
paid for, it says “Sponsored” on it. If it doesn’t say sponsored, nobody paid for it.
Data we share with businesses
We show businesses aggregate interest in their listing — how many people saved or clicked
it. Counts only; never who you are. Our outbound click log records the product, the boutique
and the time, and nothing about the person clicking.
If you ever see something on this site that looks like it blurs these lines, tell us:
[email protected]. We’d genuinely rather fix it than defend it.
